From piano playing in icy Arctic waters to bungee jumping with bagpipes: The world's most extreme musical performances in one photo series

If you're an adventurous soul, these extreme musical performances might strike a chord.

Taking the art of playing music to a whole new level, musicians from around the world have come up with an array of wacky ideas to make their gigs stand out, the Daily Mail reports.

In 2016, acclaimed talian composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi performed in front of a glacier in the Arctic in a bid to highlight climate change.

Bagpiper Scotsman Roddy Garden took the plunge into the world of bizarre performances, too, by playing Scotland the Brave as he bungee-jumped over a river at 50mph (80.5kph) last year.

Meanwhile, Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield put on a show that was out of this world - he played Christmas carols on his guitar while orbiting over the Mediterranean in the Space Station.

Acclaimed Italian composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi performed one of his own compositions on a floating platform in the Arctic Ocean, in front of the Wahlenbergbreen glacier in Svalbard, Norway, in 2016. The composition, Elegy for the Arctic, was crafted to highlight the destruction of ice on the pole due to climate change. The Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise carried Einaudi and the grand piano to the performance area, where a stage was installed on the water

Australian musician Glen Donnelly raised awareness about male body image issues last year by jumping out of a plane from 15,000ft playing the violin while naked. The former London Symphony Orchestra player belted out two tunes during the descent - Happy Birthday, to mark the fact he was turning 30, and The Lark Ascending by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. Donnelly studied viola at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London but gave up on a music career after struggling for years with body dysmorphic disorder

Filmmaker Gavin Carver filmed cellist Ruth Boden as she trekked to a height of 9,800ft to play a gig. Carver's video, titled Andante, shows how Boden carried the instrument to the top of a peak in Oregon's Wallowa mountains, before folding out a chair and playing Bach's Cello Suite No. 1. Boden says she has been hiking with her cello for over a decade - mostly through portions of the Appalachian Trail, Blue Mountains, Wallowa Mountains and Rocky Mountains

Bungee-jumping bagpiper Roddy Garden managed to play Scotland the Brave as he plummeted head-first towards a river at 50mph last year. He also made the 132ft jump wearing a kilt - but wisely decided not to be a true Scotsman and shun underwear. Incredibly, video footage shows how Roddy played just a few bum notes at the bottom of his descent and as he is flung skywards above the River Garry in Killiecrankie, Perthshire

Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield played Christmas carols while orbiting over the Mediterranean in the International Space Station. Hadfield went on to make a recording of David Bowie's Space Oddity, with the video garnering millions of views

The Snorkeling Elvises - from left, Larry Busloff, Chris Marrs and Otis May, all of Key West, Florida - rock 'n' roll beneath the sea during the 1995 Underwater Music Festival in the Florida Keys. The event, which celebrated its 35th anniversary this year, is held at the Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary. It attracts hundreds of snorkelers and divers who listen to a special radio broadcast piped into the water via underwater speakers

The Volcano Room inside the Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville, Tennessee, is used as underground performance venue. The space, located 333 feet below the ground, can accommodate more than 500 music fans

Two divers perform in water at Haichang Polar Ocean World on September 19, 2013, in Tianjin, China. The aquarium formed the ocean band to attract visitors. The music was pre-recorded and aired to guests, who watched the band's unusual underwater performances in bewilderment

Brazilian pianist Ricardo de Castro Monteiro plays in the air on a piano hanging from wires during the annual Virada Cultural event, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on May 6, 2012. The Virada Cultural is a cultural party that offers 24 hours of uninterrupted attractions - such as music, dance, cooking and theatre - on stages around the city

Italian musician and mountaineer Elisa Tomellini claimed she performed the world's highest piano concert last year, after scaling a 14,000ft peak in the Alps. Tomellini made her way up the Monte Rosa, which straddles Italy and Switzerland, while her grand piano was carried to the top by a helicopter. With temperatures plunging as low as -15C and with a bitter wind sweeping across the summit she was reunited with her instrument and started tickling the ivories in thick gloves

Last year, the stunning Marble Cave in Crimea hosted several classical music concerts. The unique performance space is located 131ft underground and can accommodate 150 audience members along with 20 musicians. Conductor and orchestral director Denis Karlov said the cello sounded particularly good in the cavernous venue
